Embracing Failure & Why You Need To Do This Now

Embracing Failure & Why You Need To Do This Now

Embracing failure probably sounds odd to you, but it’s really not. It’s not to me, and I’m happy to say that this time last year I felt like a complete failure. But I’m ok with that. My business today looks TOTALLY different to what it was.

So, you’re going to find out why you need to learn how to accept and embrace failure if you want to achieve anything in life & your business….

1. Failure teaches you things that even success can’t

One of the best teachers in life is failure. It forces you to take a step back to look at yourself, and your surroundings, your business in an entirely different light. Things you may not have known before will come rushing to the surface, and you’ll be surprised why you didn’t think of that previously.

Successful people (whatever that is) get to live the life they’ve always wanted. They worked hard to be where they’re at. But, before they got to that point, they probably failed in one or more ways. And I can assure you that when they did, they learned from their mistakes. Myself included!

2. Failure makes you stronger and more resilient

The more times you fail, the stronger and more resilient you become. You feel like you can’t go any lower, and the only way to is up. That kind of mentality is just plain awesome, it’s the kind of mindset successful people have.

How far lower can you go if you’ve already reached the lowest point? Believe me when I say this, when you embrace failure, expect to come out stronger in the end.

3. Failure teaches you new opportunities

When you fail, you hit an invisible wall. You can’t go beyond that wall. So what do you do?
You go exploring, of course. If you’re not afraid of failure, you can easily find new opportunities, new ways to knock down that wall and reach your destination.

You don’t go sulking in the corner, feeling sorry for yourself. No, that’s not what winners do.

4. Failure forces you to think outside the box

If you really want to succeed at something, and you can’t seem to go beyond your failure, you need to start thinking outside the box. What’s in the theoretical box won’t help you succeed, so you’re forced to look elsewhere.

That is the beauty of embracing failure & where others see only the four walls of their ‘box’, those who don’t fear failure will find a way out. Needless to say, those that do manage to think outside the box pave a clearer path towards success.

See? and this is exactly why I always tell my clients to never ever compare your success (or lack of) to someone else’s. You have no idea what they’ve been through to get them where they are now.

What matters is how you pave your way to success….your way.

5 Simple Goal Setting Techniques That Work

5 Simple Goal Setting Techniques That Work

In order to improve your ability to accomplish more and be more productive, you need to be able to set goals that you can achieve. Many successful people set goals each day so that they know what they want to achieve for the day, then set out to achieve those goals.

Below are five simple steps you can use below to help you set goals that you can achieve so you can accomplish more and be more productive.

#1

Be sure to write down the goals you actually want to achieve. Many people just think about the goals they want to achieve, but never actually write them down. Some may question what writing down goals will do to help them achieve those goals. Writing them down (either on paper or electronically via Notepad, an app, etc.) actually creates a record of what you want to do so that you can refer back to it and see whether you have achieved what you wanted to do for the day or not.

#2

Second, write down realistic goals for the day, week, and month. These goals need to be ones you can realistically achieve within the specified time period. If you write down goals that are impossible to reach within the time period, you’ll feel fed up that you’ve not reaching them and think that goal-setting doesn’t work and you’ll just not continue.

#3

When it comes down to larger goals (especially those that take several days or longer to fully achieve), break them down into more manageable parts and write down each part. Estimate how long it will take to complete each part, then write down a part per day to help you achieve larger, longer-term goals.

#4

At the end of the day, take a few minutes to review how well you do each day when it comes to accomplishing the goals you set out to achieve for the day. If you fail to achieve a goal for the day, think over why you didn’t achieve the goal; was it because you weren’t putting forth your best effort or procrastinating, or was it due to some external circumstance you couldn’t control? Determine what it was and, if it was through your own personal fault that you didn’t accomplish the goal, consider what you can do in your actions to help you avoid falling short of reaching future goals.

#5

When you review your goals for the day, if you achieve every one of your goals, pat yourself on the back and reward yourself with something- it can be spending some extra time doing something you like, such as listening to music, or having a long soak in the bath etc. If you continue to meet your goals every day and accomplish more longer-term goals, consider rewarding yourself with something even more special- perhaps a short break (or a long one!), a new item you wanted to buy, more time off, etc. By rewarding yourself when you achieve your goals, you’ll reinforce the actions you need to take to reach the goals you want to achieve.
